In 2022, Can You Take A Dab Pen On Plane?

Can you take a dab pen on the plane?

According to the TSA stipulation: You can put your dab pen devices in your carry-on luggage.  Do not put a dab pen in checked luggage.

Most electronic cigarettes and dab pens contain batteries, if you place the device in checked baggage directly, it is prone to the risk of spontaneous combustion or explosion.

If you forget to take your dab pen out of your checked luggage, airport security will most likely tell you to go back to the baggage check port to take the device out or send it to your home via express.

Dab pen devices are not allowed to be used in flight but can be carried with you.

So, taking your dab pen devices aboard in your carry-on luggage is the better option.
There can be differences in how TSA vape rules at different airlines even in the U.S, so it’s best to check the airline rules before flying. If you’re flying into another country, you should also check local vaping laws before departure. Some countries have banned dab pen altogether.

Can take weed or CBD/THC concentrates on the plane?

TSA screening is focused on neutralizing terrorism and threats to the safety of aircraft and their passengers.

The role of TSA is to prevent dangerous goods from entering the cabin. When TSA scans carry-on luggage, they are mainly looking for liquids, flammable, explosive items, and weapons that can be used on the plane.

The TSA doesn’t look for marijuana when you go through airport security. However, if they find marijuana in your luggage, they may refer you to local law enforcement. Depending on state and local laws, you may be subject to criminal prosecution, or your stash may be confiscated.
Under the TSA’s latest rules, the only legal cannabis-related products (in carry-on or checked luggage) are those that contain no more than 0.3% THC or FDA-approved drugs.

But TSA also reminded us that marijuana and certain cannabis-infused products, including some Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, remain illegal under federal law except for products that contain no more than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis or that are approved by FDA. (See the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, Pub. L. 115-334.)  TSA officers are required to report any suspected violations of law to local, state, or federal authorities.

In other words, even though marijuana is legal in the United States, it is still illegal to carry marijuana under federal law.

States treat THC/CBD laws and policies very differently: no rules, perfectly legal, illegal, punishable, etc. While the TSA says it doesn’t specifically search for illegal drugs, its strategy is to hand over any suspicious items to airport security. So if you carry CBD, there is a high risk of being detained.
It is important to note that if your dab pen contains THC residues, it may also lead to censorship. So RELEAFY recommends that you thoroughly clean your dab pen (including chamber, airpath, mouthpiece, and surface) at home before taking it on a flight.

Alternative Options

If you’re traveling and still want to enjoy your cannabis concentrates, it’s advisable to research the local laws and regulations of your destination.

Some states or countries may allow the possession and use of cannabis concentrate for recreational or medical purposes. In such cases, it’s better to purchase your dab pen or vape pen at your destination to avoid any legal complications during travel.
